Policy & Campaigning Trustee

There have been multiple attempts to create mainstream cohousing communities in Scotland. However, most of them have failed due to lack of understanding in the public sector, and the challenges of competing with the private housing sector.

We’re currently in conversations with MSPs and representatives from local authorities to take the cohousing case forward, and we could benefit greatly from being advised by a Policy & Campaigning trustee.

Training details
Online training on the role of a charity trustee is available. An induction pack and ongoing support from the convenor and current trustees will also be provided.

What’s involved?
Trustee positions are voluntary and unpaid.

Trustees are expected to attend meetings bi-monthly (6 times per year), attend the AGM and be willing to represent Cohousing Scotland at occasional events.

There is no set term of office but we aim to have Trustees serve for at least one informal term of three years to allow for continuity. Altogether a trustee should expect to give 5 hours per month to the charity, though they may choose to give more time.

Do you have the Governance knowledge to take this charity to the next level? If so, we’d love to hear from you!

Application deadline: Friday 19th July
